Attend Every Day

Each day will begin with a 'soft start' between 8:30am and 8.45am. School with start at 8:45am. It is important that children arrive before this so they are on time to class and ready to start learning. The registers close at 8:50am when lessons start.

School finishes at 3.00pm (Reception only) or 3:20pm (for all of the years) unless your child has an after school club. Clubs finish at varying times, please make sure you read the consent form so that you know the time to collect your child. Please collect your child on time, if a club is cancelled for any reason you will be informed by text.

On the last day of each term – Christmas, Easter and Summer, school closes at 12pm.

Children must attend school every day unless they are unwell. If your child is unwell you must phone the school office before 8:30am. The school will automatically call parents who have not rang the school by 9:30am. Authorisation for morning or afternoon absences will be considered for reasons like illness or other unavoidable circumstancesUnauthorised absences are those which the school does not consider reasonable and for which no ‘leave’ has been given. This could include; unexplained absence or concerning attendance levels.

Parents/carers who are experiencing difficulties in getting their children into school should contact the schools admissions officer via the office at an early stage and work together with staff in resolving any problems.

Whilst 100% attendance, in reality is not always possible, 95% is achievable and expected. We look at every child’s attendance and if there is a concern communication will occur between school staff and parents/carers either by letter or a meeting. If the attendance level fails to improve this may lead to a referral to our Education Welfare Officer for additional support.

Parents/carers with responsibility are required to ensure that children of compulsory school age receive efficient full time education. They are legally responsible for ensuring that children attend and stay at school unless official alternative arrangements are made for their education.

Head Teachers are no longer able to grant requests for holidays to be taken by pupils during school time, unless in exceptional circumstances - Following a change to the 2006 regulations – the Statutory Instruments 2013 No.756: The Education (Pupil Registration) England (Amendment) Regulations 2013.

In exceptional circumstances parents can apply to the school for an Absence Request Form which must be completed and returned to the office explaining the reasons for the request – at least two weeks prior to the dates requested.

Parents/carers should make every effort to keep phone numbers up to date so that we can contact home in the case of absence or emergency. Should you need to collect your child in the event of an emergency please contact the office and your child will be collected from class.
